*I love that it is a team effort and they have me covered. I did not have to research doctors they came to me. They’re wonderful people and doctors as well. It made a very stressful situation easier to deal with. They also talk to each other very well. Things I thought I was going to have to deal with they work it out themselves without stress.
*Our surgeon did a wonderful job with the lip surgery. He is very flexible and takes our concerns into consideration.
*I absolutely love Children’s Hospital. It caters to children like no other hospital I have seen. They have Red Wagons instead of wheelchairs! Recovery is smooth and comfortable in their individual recovery rooms. The recovery staff is warm and loving. The cleft team is wonderful and professional. They provided us with a binder with helpful information and a timeline of procedures and surgeries. They are willing and ready to answer questions. Dr. Deleyannis did a wonderful job on our daughter’s lip/nose and palate. People don’t even notice her scar. He does amazing work. Dr. Allen is our ENT and we love his fun and caring personality.
*We absolutely love Dr. Deleyiannis. Having heard nothing but good things about him, he was actually the plastic surgeon in our first cleft clinic. He has a very calm, gentle demeanor, and always takes time to answer all our questions, check on us after surgery, etc. His team responded very quickly to emails when/if we had concerns. And the results of his surgery are simply amazing. Love love him. Also had a generally good experience with children’s hospital

Denver CO Cleft Teams
- Dr. Mark Kiehn
- NAM prior to lip repair
- Lip Repair done between 3-6 months/palate repair done between 10-12 months
- Restrictions & Requirements after repair include: The use of arm restraints
- Speech therapy begins at 12 months
*I always feel like they are on top of situations. I don’t have to call all the time to get info, they call me. And they don’t let you leave the clinic or hospital with unanswered questions. Very attentive and caring.
*I feel that Dr Kiehn takes care to not only repair for now, but for in the future. For example, when he was doing our lip repair he decided to fix our son’s gum notches so that hopefully bone will grow there and we will not have to do a bone graft later on. I thought this was excellent, saving a mommy one more surgery is high on my list!
- Dr. William Brown
- No Pre-surgical technique
- Lip Repair done between 1-4 weeks/palate repair done between 7-8 months
- Restrictions & Requirements after repair include: Scar Massage
- Lip/nose revision before school if necessary, bone graft around 10 and final lip/nose revision around 18
*We didn’t start clinic until after palate repair. Our surgeon likes to deal with the first year surgeries before doing a full clinic. I felt that was less overwhelming because there is so much that first year.
