My husband and I already having 8 kids between us were surpised to find out that we would be having #9.  We both have experience on an ambulance so we planned to do a home birth. Yes, just he and I!! She was born 3 weeks early, with cord around her neck 3 times and a unilateral cleft lip and palate.  The cleft was a total surprise to us both. No history! He and I fought to get her crying and stimulated that day. Seconds were like minutes and minutes were like hours.  Our Abigail was and is a fighter.  She pulled through.  Over the next few weeks we struggled to get her weight up and finding the right bottle for her.  We had over night stays in hospitals and saw countless doctors.

She is my inspiration behind our facebook page Cleft Cutie Wild.  We are trying to raise awareness.  She is now 15 weeks old and is about to undergo her first of many surgeries.  Her journey is one of many steps but it will not be walked alone!
